LADY DUCKS TAKE TOPS AT RIESEL
It was all green on St. Patrick’s Day as the Taylor varsity girls track team had the competition seeing green at the Riesel Indian Invitational last Thursday, March 17.
The Lady Ducks finished first overall as a team and took first place in five of their eight events.
The Lady Ducks finished first in the 4x100 relay with Destiny Lewis, Zakaya Frederick, Emma Whitsel and Tyronzia Lewis and a time of 51.03, the 4x200 relay with Destiny Lewis, Whitsel, Aiyanna Thompson and Tyronzia Lewis and a time of 1:48.08 and the 4x400 relay with Aiyanna Thompson, Destiny Lewis, Azalie Balusek and Tyronzia Lewis and a time of 4:20.27.
In individual performances, Taylor took the top spot in the 800-meter run with Aiyanna Thompson’s time of 2:29.71 and in the 100-meter hurdles with Whitsel finishing and a time of 15.75
Zari Thompson finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 68.13. Ahjalei Davis took fourth in the shotput with a distance of 29-8” and third in the discus with a distance of 87-11 ½.
HEAVY LIFTING AT STATE
This past Friday, March 18, the Taylor girls powerlifting team competed at the state meet in Corpus Christi.
Rylie Dlouhy placed 11th with a total weight of 720 pounds. She had a squat of 275 pounds, a bench press of 155 pounds and a deadlift of 290 pounds. Kayshawna Fields
Kayshawna Fields finished ninth with a total weight of 760 pounds. She had a squat of 300 pounds, a bench press of 145 pounds and a deadlift of 315 pounds.
Riqueleigh Grant-Homles also placed ninth in her weight class with a total weight of 770 pounds. She had a squat of

Analise Frias placed ninth in her weight class with a total weight of 975 pounds.
She had a squat of 385 pounds, a bench press of 235 pounds and a deadlift of 355 pounds.
Heavenly Turner took sixth place in her weight class with a total of 875 pounds. Turner had a squat of 380 pounds, a bench press of 195 pounds and a deadlift of 300 pounds.
