The Thrall Tigers varsity volleyball team defeated the Lexington Eagles in four sets, 3-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 17. This marks the Tigers' first district win of the season as they improve to 17-7 overall and 1-1 in district play. The Eagles fall to 21-15 overall and 1-1 in district play.
It was a close battle throughout, with Thrall winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20. Lexington fought back in the third set, securing a dominant 25-12 win. However, the Tigers were able to close out the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
Top performers for Thrall included senior outside hitter Amber Kevil, junior middle hitter Brynn Leschber and senior setter Emily Holybee. Notable players for Lexington were junior outside hitter Brooke Scheler, senior middle hitter Caitlyn Coleman and junior outside hitter Teal Brockenbush.
With the win, the Tigers are now third in the district, behind Franklin and Little River Academy. Thrall's next matches will be against Rockdale on the road on Friday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m. and Rogers at home on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
