In four at-bats, Chris Perez collected four hits and drove in four runs in Taylor’s 10-2 beat down of the Burnet Bulldogs last Tuesday, March 25, to improve to 3-1 in district and 10-6-1 overall.

The Ducks came out holding nothing back as they scored three runs in the bottom of first inning. Back-to-back singles by Dominick Hartman and Jonah Adame put two aboard with nobody out. Playing aggressively, Hartman ended up at third base following a throwing error by the Bulldogs.

Cohen Tyree came to the plate and during his at-bat, Hartman and Adame both advanced putting the Ducks up 1-0. Tyree would walk putting Taylor runners at the corners. Perez then grounded to right field with a hit that drove in Adame and advanced Tyree to third base.

The Bulldogs added their only two scores in the top of the second inning as they pulled within striking distance at 3-2.

In the Taylor half of the second inning, the Ducks added three more runs to cushion their lead. Hartman singled with two outs to get things started. Adame was then hit by a pitch to reach base. Tyree singled to drive home Hartman. Perez then stepped up and drove in Adame and Tyree with a double to center field to give the Ducks the 6-2 lead.

The Taylor fourth inning saw three more Ducks cross home plate. Adame reached via an error. Tyree singled to center field. For the third time, Perez stepped up and delivered with a single to center field to push the Ducks ahead 7-2 as Adame scored.

Jackson Schroeder would reach base after being hit by a pitch. Nick Treuter would reach base on a fielder’s choice that halted Tyree from scoring. Jackson Meller came on to run for Treuter. Matthew Aplin drove a ground ball to left field that scored Schroeder and Perez, making it a 9-2 Taylor lead.

In the fifth inning for Taylor, Jake Jansky would score via a sacrifice fly to center field by Conner Barcuch for the Ducks 10th and final run of the game.

Devin Valdez went six innings on the mound. He gave up six hits and had 11 strikeouts. Aiden Aguero finished off the Bulldogs in the final inning.

Taylor was at home on Friday, March 25, taking on Georgetown Gateway Prep.
