The Taylor Ducks varsity volleyball team will enter district play this week against the Jarrell Cougars on Friday, Sept. 20. The Ducks come into this matchup with some momentum after defeating Lampasas in straight sets, 3-0. The Cougars lost to Salado, 3-0, this past week.
Senior middle hitter Haley Harms leads Taylor with 83 kills this season. Other key players for the Ducks include junior setter Peyton Wamble and sophomore outside hitter Tiana Candee.
Wamble has 35 kills this season, while Candee has 43.
Taylor will look to turn around its season after a disappointing 5-19 start that has seen the Ducks lose multiple close matches. Jarrell has been better early with a 15-11 record.
The Cougars are led by senior outside hitter Cami Murphy, who has 35 kills this season.
Other key players for Jarrell include sophomore hitter Princess-Vaiseifo Ufivelesili and senior middle blocker Brooklyn Nehring.
Ufivelesili has 18 kills this season, while Nehring has 15.
The match is set to start at 6 p.m. at the Taylor High School gym.
