The Williamson County Commissioners Court this week approved tax rates for a half-dozen road districts and also unveiled the list of polling sites for November.
County roads are located in unincorporated areas of Williamson County.
Commissioners are tasked with making and enforcing rules for the construction and maintenance of the public roads, hence the setting of tax rates.
To that end, commissioners approved tax rates for six of seven road districts in the county, including: • Avery Ranch Road District, $0.27 per $100 of taxable home value.
• Avery Centre No. 1, $0.15 per $100 of taxable home value.
• Northwoods Road District No.
1, $0.1878 per $100 of taxable home value.
• Pearson Place Road District, $0.0572 per $100 of taxable home value.
• Somerset Hills Road District No. 3, $0.29 per $100 of taxable home value.
Avery Ranch and Pearson Place rates were slashed by a half-cent, commissioners noted, while the Northwoods Road rate was trimmed by a full cent. An updated rate for a seventh road district dubbed Avery Centre No. 2 was not included in the vote.
A notice of the upcoming general election on Nov. 5 was officially posted during the meeting.
Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Oct. 26 with polling sites open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Oct. 27, from noon to 6 p.m.; and Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On Election Day, registered voters are able to cast ballots at any polling locations approved by commissioners — from the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex to the WilCo Expo Center in north Taylor and points inbetween.
