Chamber thrilled by Trades Day

Trades Day is always one of the Chamber’s favorite events of the year and, my goodness, this year did not disappoint! Held March 2, at the Williamson County Expo Center, the event welcomed more than 600 students from 13 schools including those in Taylor, Elgin, Giddings, Hutto, Fayetteville, Pflugerville, Burnet and Temple. They learned about career options from four trade and technical schools and met employers from 12 businesses that included S&D Plumbing, EMD Electronics, Durcon, Samsung, United Ag & Turf, Tesla and more.

About 20 volunteers conducted more than 180 interviews through out the day.

Plans are already underway for March 1, 2023!

A huge thank you to our more than 28 community volunteers and to our sponsors: S&D Plumbing, EMD Electronics, Durcon, Samsung, United Ag and Turf, Rural Capital Area Workforce Solutions and Texas State Technical College.

Thanks to Taylor’s Salvation Army!

Local stories of families who lost everything -- but, thankfully, at this writing, nobody -- are nightmare inducing.

I could not be more grateful for Stacy Stork, who is a volunteer, for all of the work she is doing to help our neighbors.

She will be calling for volunteers to help by “sweeping” the area around some of these homes in the coming days.

Watch for those details or make an online donation on Facebook at the Salvation Army Taylor, TX Service Unit page. Checks can be sent to P.O. Box 104 or dropped off at Citizens National Bank
