Governor appoints Williamson County Judge to Indigent Defense Commission

Williamson County Judge William “Bill” Gravell, Jr. has been appointed to the Indigent Defense Commission Governing Board by Governor Greg Abbott on Monday, according to a news release.

Gravell was named an ex-officio member of the governing board along with Emily Miskel, justice on the Fifth Court of Appeals in McKinney. The Indigent Defense Commission contibutes technical and financial support to counties in order to maintain and develop cost-effective and quality indigent defense systems, according to the release.

Gravell has served as Williamson County Judge since 2019 and previously served as Justice of the Peace for the county from 2015 to 2018, according to the county website.

Prior to his work as an elected official, Gravell served as pastor of Sonterra Fellowship in Jarrell for 22 years and continues to volunteer for Celebration Church. Gravell earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, according to the news release.
