Family ties

Taylor High School celebrated Black History Month in February with presentations by several speakers to share local stories and information about black history. Quincy Griffin shared a display of his family heritage and visited with students about the importance of knowing your family’s history.

Taylor High School celebrated Black History Month in February with presentations by several speakers to share local stories and information about black history.

Quincy Griffin shared a display of his family heritage and visited with students about the importance of knowing your family’s history. Taylor City Councilman Gerald Anderson also talked about his family heritage, sharing a display about family member and local legend, Bill Pickett.

Jennifer Harris shared memorabilia about local physician and Taylor’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year for 1953, James Lee Dickey, while Renee Ross visited with students about items that were invented by African Americans. Shontavia

Shontavia Hornsby visited with students about furthering their education after high school and shared information about historically black colleges and universities.
