St Mary’s loses shootout versus Concordia

The St Mary’s Rams football team (0-2) lost in a shootout 68-52 versus the Concordia Cardinals (2-0) on Friday, Sept.

6. The Rams went into this game knowing it would be high-scoring as both teams had potent offenses. This game did not disappoint.

Rams senior Tyler Zimmerhanzel led the St Mary’s offense with 171 total yards and five total touchdowns.

Zimmerhanzel has been unstoppable to start the season amassing over 450 yards in just two games. St Mary’s senior Ethan Britten also had an impressive showing with 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The offense was on fire but unfortunately, the defense could not hold up, allowing the Cardinals to convert big plays down the field that ultimately led to points. The Rams will look to shore up its defensive struggles versus Founders Classical Academy. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. at Taylor Memorial Field.
