Hutto volleyball hosts Cedar Creek in District showdown

Hutto volleyball hosts Cedar Creek in District showdown

The Hutto Hippos varsity volleyball team (15-13) will host the Cedar Creek Raiders (18-11) on Friday, Sept. 13. The Hippos will look to stay undefeated in district play starting the year 3-0.

Hutto is led by senior hitter Isabella Orton, who leads the team with 190 kills and 39 serving points.

Other key players for the Hippos include senior middle hitter Delijah Bedford and senior libero Macie Atkinson. Bedford has 44 blocks, while Atkinson has recorded 196 receptions.

Senior outside hitter Faith Reynolds and senior libero Kennedy Grubbs are the top players for the Raiders. Reynolds leads the team with 220 kills, and Grubbs has 240 digs on the year. It will be interesting to see how these two teams match up, as both have been impressive offensively this season. The Hippos have totaled 642 kills, while Cedar Creek has amassed 784.

The last time Hutto faced the Raiders was a little over a month ago losing in a tight one, 2-1. The Hippos split the first two sets, but ultimately lost 25-12 to end the match. The Hippos hope for a different outcome as they look to stay hot in district play.

The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. at the Hutto High School gym.
