Ducks volleyball honors standouts

MILESTONE NIGHT

The Taylor Ducks varsity volleyball team recognized three current players who reached career milestones on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The players who were honored were senior defensive specialist Makenna Watson who achieved 1,000 career digs, junior middle hitter Haley Harms with 500 career kills, and junior setter Peyton Wamble with 500 career assists.

These three players will be forever remembered as Ducks legends as fans and staff hung posters around the gym to commemorate their impressive achievements. The historic night didn’t stop there as Taylor took on Giddings defeating the Buffaloes in straight sets 3-0. The Ducks won by large margins in the first two sets 25-19 and 25-17 but had a close battle in the last set 26-24 to close the match out.

This win was exactly what the Ducks needed as they had been unable to find their footing so far this season. Taylor will look to carry this momentum into the rest of the season as they gear up for tougher competition. The Ducks improve to 3-17 on the year, while the Buffaloes fall to 10-20. Taylor’s next matchup will be at home versus the Troy Trojans on Friday, Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m. before they travel to Chapperal to take on the Bobcats on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
