The Thrall Tigers varsity volleyball team defeated the LBJ Austin Jaguars in straight sets 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Tigers improved to 15-6 overall on the season, while the Jaguars fell to 5-7 overall. Tigers senior outside hitter Amber Kevil was the star player, leading Thrall in kills with 14 and receptions with 27.
Thrall was dominant the whole way through, winning the first two sets 25-18 and the last 25-16. Some other top performances for the Tigers were senior setter Emily Holybee and junior setter Kinley Hoffman. Holybee had 27 assists, while Hoffman had 32 digs.
While there were certainly some impressive individual performances, the team as a whole played well. Offensively, Thrall had 34 kills on 31 assists. Defensively, the Tigers continued their dominance, accounting for 59 total digs and seven blocks.
Thrall has won five of its last six games and is getting hot at the right time as they continue to get deeper in district play. The Tigers will be back in action on the road versus Smithville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, before hosting Franklin on Friday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m. in its second district game.
