The Lower Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District will hold a public hearing for the tax rate and FY 2025 budget at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is at 1519 N. Main St.
The district maintains and operates 23 flood-control structures, or earthen dams, across rural eastern Williamson County and western Milam County.
The proposed maximum tax rate the WCID can approve is a 2% increase from 1.6265 to 1.6546 cents per $100 valuation, according to a news release.
With the 2% increase, the WCID would generate about $1 million in revenue.
The proposed WCID FY25 budget is set at $1.65 million, which includes the anticipated revenue from the 2% tax increase, a transfer of $500,000 from the general fund surplus and minor grants.
The monies will cover an estimated $1 million in dam maintenance, upgrades, repairs and rehabilitation; a $300,000 administrative budget; and $250,000 for engineering services, according to the release.
