Icy treats and more helped employees at Samsung Austin Semiconductor get students in the Taylor and Manor independent school districts outfitted for school, officials said. As part of the Stuff the Bus campaign, workers raised money by selling snow cones, according to a prepared release. The company also sponsored a match for donations made by employees, officials said.
“Employees donated more than $2,000 to each school district.
Employees also went shopping and donated boxes upon boxes of school supplies,” the release noted.
Volunteers in Taylor handed out more than 300 backpacks and more during a schoolsupply distribution event the weekend before the start of classes.
Taylor Independent School District students started the academic year Aug. 14.
“Thank you so much for this donation to TISD,” wrote Julie Rydell on Facebook.
“I volunteered this weekend to assist at the back-to-school drive and it was so much fun to watch so many kids ‘shop’ for supplies.”
