HUTTO — Sports have returned at Hutto High School this week as the Hippos started practice in multiple fall sports.
“Good luck to all the teams starting practice today, especially those Hippos wearing the orange,” Hutto Athletic Director Brad LaPlante said. “Make a huge impact on your athletes on and off the field!”
Hippos football has been out bright and early since Monday at Hutto Memorial Stadium as the varsity squad will start a new district in 2024, while the Lady Hippos began volleyball tryouts at the gymnasium.
Both Hippos football and the Lady Hippos volleyball teams will play in a district closer to home this season against Round Rock Cedar Ridge High School, Manor High School, Round Rock McNeil High School, Round Rock High School, Round Rock Westwood High School, Round Rock Stony Point High School, Austin Vandegrift High School and Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School.
Hutto volleyball will host three teams Friday for scrimmages with Pflugerville Connally High School, Austin McCallum High School and Del Valle High School. Hippos football will have its first scrimmage Thursday, Aug. 15 hosting Pflugerville Weiss High School.
