Vegetable growers program in Taylor

The Williamson County AgriLife Extension Service will offer a vegetable growers conference on Wednesday, April 6. The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SPJST Hall, 5025 FM 619 in Taylor.

The Williamson County AgriLife Extension Service will offer a vegetable growers conference on Wednesday, April 6. The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SPJST Hall, 5025 FM 619 in Taylor.

Pre-registration is required at https://williamson.agrilife.org/events. The program is $10 and will include lunch and two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units in integrated pest management for attendees with a private applicator license.

Commercial vegetable and fruit growers will benefit from the program, as well as hobby gardeners. Williamson County Farm Bureau is sponsoring the program.

Topics and presenters include:

• Weed and Pest Control in Vegetables, Russ Wallace, professor and AgriLife horticulture specialist, Lubbock;

• Using High Tunnels to Extend the Season & Strawberry Production, Wallace; and

• Organic Vegetable Production, Bob Whitney, AgriLife Organic Program specialist, Stephenville.
