Bibles and Baseball Camp

The fourth annual Bibles and Baseball camp took place from July 24-26, at the Taylor High School turf room and football field. Organized by Fellowship Church Associate Pastor Drew Neal and his wife Jennie Neal, the event has grown steadily since its inception in 2021.

“We have had more and more kids every year. The first year we had maybe 40 kids and this year it was over 80.

So, that was the biggest year we have had yet and it has consistently gone up,” Drew said.

Over the three evenings, participants enjoyed traditional baseball activities, raffle drawings and pizza.

Despite the fun, the camp’s primary objective was to teach the word of Jesus Christ.

Drew Neal believes that he and his wife have a mission to fulfill this need in the community.

“We saw a need in our community and we wanted to fill that need,” Neal said. “We wanted to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out to the community. We felt like it was a mission God put on us to help reach kids with the gospel.”

The camp is open exclusively to boys aged 5 to 12. Neal emphasizes the importance of having male leadership and learning about the word of God at this critical age.

“We hope that by having this camp and helping direct young men in the right direction, they continue to grow and understand the biblical truths and become good civil servants,” Neal said This was the first year the event was held at Taylor Independent School District, and the Neals hope to return as they continue to expand the camp, aiming to reach even more children in the community in the coming years.

“We fully intend to go back to Taylor ISD facilities next year. They have welcomed us back and we are hoping that no matter where we go we always continue to run out of room. So we can spread this message to more kids and families,” Neal said.
