The First Baptist Church in Taylor had a goal to help senior citizens beat the heat. Operation Cool a Senior did just that.
The program is tied to the annual service barbecue hosted by church members Willie and Janet Curtis and sponsored by TFBC. Church members delivered 50 fans to the senior center in Taylor Monday, July 15 as seniors began their weekly game of Bunco.
Operation Cool a Senior has been an ongoing program this summer, and Willie Curtis said he plans for it to continue.
“It’s the summer, and it’s just going to get hotter,” he said. We want to keep it going as long as people donate.”
Curtis said Taylor is the starting point, but the program can expand out to other communities including Hutto and surrounding cities.
“We want to cool everybody,” Curtis said.
Anyone who would like to donate can drop a fan off at 1618 Tammi Lane in Taylor, or call Curtis at 210514- 8988.
