Foundation launches COAD

The Greater Taylor Foundation recently announced the official launch of the Greater Taylor Community Organizations Active in Disaster. This collaborative initiative brings together local businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and community members to enhance disaster preparedness, response and recovery efforts in the area.

Thomas Martinez will be the inaugural chair of the Greater Taylor COAD.

“I am honored to serve as COAD chair and look forward to working together as a community to put in place a system and processes that will benefit our citizens at their most urgent times of need and support,” he said.

Martinez is a lifelong Taylor resident and has a passion for the community and held many leadership positions including President of the Temple College at Taylor Foundation, Taylor Independent School District board trustee, Taylor Chamber board member, Chamber president and Development Chair of the Taylor Education Enrichment Foundation.

“My goal is simple, plan and prepare for the worst and pray for the best,” Martinez said. “Nothing would please me more than to put an outstanding support system in place that we never have to utilize.”
