The Coupland Civic Organization will host its annual National Night Out Aug. 6, on the Depot grounds.
Attendees will enjoy a hot dog supper with homemade cookies.
There will be updates from officials from the Sheriff’s Department, ESD#10, Constable’s office, County Commissioner’s office, Coupland School and more.
Planning is already underway for the annual Choo Choo Fest, which will be held Oct.
20. There will be the usual barbecue dinner prepared by Coupland’s Master Chef Peter Wabbel. The whole family will enjoy the free Kiddie Express Train and the petting zoo.
Coupland School
Summer school at Coupland School is underway. Registration for the upcoming school year will begin July 30.
Meet the Teacher Night will be Aug. 8, and the first six weeks period will begin Aug. 14.
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland
While St. Peter’s Church searches for an interim pastor, the June guest pastors are Rev.
Linda McWhorter June 2, Pastor Brett Hart June 9, Pastor Donna Wright June 16, Rev.
Steven Swope June 23, and Pastor Charles Stark June 30. The church council has appointed Ted Wittliff as church treasurer.
The Seniors Luncheon July 16 at 11:30 a.m. will be a picnic luncheon, followed by bingo and 42 dominoes.
“You don’t want to miss the root beer floats. We look forward to seeing all your senior citizens smiling faces,” Prissy Rumel said. “Reduce stress at St. Peter’s playground that is such an enjoyable area. Its covered pavilion, swing sets and playscape offer both church members and community families recreational space for everyone’s enjoyment.”
In the coming months, additional equipment and covers will be added. The goal is to give the community a common area to meet and visit.
“Keep your eyes on our upcoming improvements,” Rumel said.
The monthly potluck lunch will be June 30 after worship. Coffee Connections meets every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room. The Adult Sunday School class meets at 9 a.m. on Sunday for coffee, and discussion begins at 9:15 a.m.
The special offering for June is for Friends of Williamson County Child Welfare Board, a non-profit organization that supports foster children and their caregivers. There is more information at HelpWilcoKids.com.
St. Peter’s is offering to pay half the registration fee for children and grandchildren of members to attend Slumber Falls camp this summer. For more information, contact Rumel at prissyrumel@ gmail.com.
New Sweden Church
New Sweden hosts game nights Thursdays at 7 p.m. Bible study was June 25 at 10 a.m. On June 23, New Sweden held its annual God and Country event, with a meal at 5 p.m. and a program at 7 p.m.
The Evangelism meeting will be July 9 at 10 a.m. The monthly meeting of the Church Council will be July 16 at 7 p.m.

Type Church
Type Church holds Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. June 12 was game night and June 16 was Father’s Day donuts and dads at 9:30 a.m.

Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life of Coupland and New Bern met at Mager Cemetery June 8 to put flags on graves in observance of Flag Day, which was June 14. Mager Cemetery is on FM 1466 east of Coupland in the Beyersville community.
Attendees enjoyed a breakfast and then held a meeting.
Elgin Depot Museum offers books by Coupland author
The Elgin Depot Museum offers books for sale including history books by Coupland author Charlene Hanson Jordan “Cross Roads Elgin and Stuck in the Mud at Post Oak Island.” The Museum is open Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 p.m., and during Sip, Shop and Stroll, the second Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Operated by the Elgin Historical Association, the Elgin Depot Museum is featuring some special exhibits. There is a comprehensive display of historical communication equipment and an exhibit on World War I. There also is a special exhibit of the history of the apron.
“A fascinating story has come to light about the historical narratives of the simple apron we all use,” according to Museum officials.
A permanent display is Area Veterans in the old ticket office starting with area veterans from the Texas Revolution.
The Museum has an extensive photography and archives collection.
Manda School reunion and homecoming
A flagpole dedication to honor Homer Johnson was held June 29 at 5 p.m. at Manda School.
Attendees bourght a main dish, salad, vegetable or dessert to share. Paper goods and iced tea were provided.
Coupland Water Supply Corporation
The Coupland Water Supply Corporation held a public meeting and a special meeting of the board of directors June 12 at 2 p.m. in the Coupland Fire Hall.
Secretary and treasurer Karen Marosko notes that the agenda included financial status update, requested connection of the new Middle School, vote on increase of monthly rates, plant operator report, update on permit renewal and update on Wilco ARPA grant.
