Input needed on downtown plan update

SPECIAL TO THE PRESS

City officials want to hear from residents about downtown Taylor. The city will host its first Stakeholder Dialogue meeting to discuss the Taylor Downtown Plan Update Wednesday, July 10, at 6 p.m. at the Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St.

According to a press release from the Main Street Manager Jan Harris, the meeting is designed to review project boards, provide input, and ask questions to the staff and the consultant team about the plan.

The presentation begins at 6 p.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes. For those who cannot attend the event July 10, the presentation and open house materials will be available on the city website, ci.taylor.tx.us/.

According to Harris, the downtown planning process builds on the 2015 Downtown Plan. The document is used by city leaders, developers, business owners and residents to establish a vision for the future of downtown.

“To build a successful new plan, we must understand the community’s priorities and concerns through a robust and inclusive community engagement process,” the release said.

The update is expected to build on what was outlined in the 2015 Downtown Plan to create a robust, implementable plan that meets the needs of the downtown as the city continues to grow.

The process for developing the new plan will include three phases of public engagement, offering multiple opportunities to get involved and have residents’ voices heard.
