At least a couple of local school districts are releasing early Monday, March 21, due to severe weather forecast for central Texas.

Taylor and Granger independent school districts each announced early dismissals shortly after noon Monday. Coupland ISD also announced limited after-school care in the afternoon.

"Out of an abundance of caution concerning the possibility of severe weather for this afternoon, each campus in Taylor ISD will dismiss thirty minutes early and buses will run thirty minutes early," said Taylor ISD in an online statement. :Flight School is cancelled for today and there will be no athletic events after school today. The Boys and Girls Club will remain open and will accept students thirty minutes earlier than usual to accommodate early dismissal. The Taylor ISD School Board Meeting for tonight will continue as planned."

Taylor ISD dismissal times for Monday are as follows:
• T.H. Johnson Elementary School — 2:40 p.m.
• Naomi Pasemann Elementary School — 2:45 p.m.
• Main Street Intermediate School — 2:50 p.m.
• Taylor Middle School — 3:17 p.m.
• Taylor High School — 3:30 p.m.
• Legacy Early College High School — 3:30 p.m.
• Taylor Opportunity Center — 3:00 p.m.

Granger ISD announced that elementary school students would be released at 2:50 p.m., followed by junior high and high school students at 3 p.m.

"All after school activities have been canceled," continued Granger ISD's statement. "You are welcome to pick up your children at any time today and we will assist with any student walkers. Staff will be available for normal business hours."

Coupland ISD said after-school care would be available only until 4 p.m.

"We apologize for any inconvenience," said the district.

Thrall ISD is on spring break. As of 1:45 p.m., there was no announcement from Hutto ISD.
