Pavement seal coating begins Monday

Parking will look different for a few days beginning Monday, July 1. Seal coating will begin on Second Street, and continue until July 5.

Construction will be done from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is anticipated to be completed by the end of next week. While work is being conducted, traffic will be redirected and there will be no parking allowed in areas where work is being done.

Work on Second Street is part of the city’s Move Street Maintenance Project. The project is part of the 2022 Infrastructure Bond approved by the City Council Dec. 8, 2022. The construction contract was awarded to Texas Road in the amount of $4,094,857.40 in June 2023. The project, which also includes work already done on Mallard and currently in progress on Fourth Street, facilitates numerous improvements, including seal coating, sidewalk reconstruction, street reclamation with new surface asphalt, signage, striping and traffic control for city streets. According to city officials, the improvements are intended to make the streets safer for Taylor residents and visitors.

Residents and visitors can learn more about the Taylor on the Move 2023 Street Maintenance Project by visiting the website at www.taylortx.gov/ TaylorOnTheMove. The page is also linked in the city’s home page banner at www.taylortx. gov.
