Beasts of another nature were handled by children last Thursday.
On March 17, the Taylor Public Library hosted its Truck Petting Zoo. The event returned after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Look at the kids. This is what we do it for,” said Karen Ellis, Taylor Public Library director, as she looked at the full parking lot of children and vehicles. “We’re thrilled to death when that happens. It’s really, really cool.”
Different city departments and organizations brought their flagship vehicles to be on display at Taylor Public Library. Children were able to climb inside and interact with different first responder vehicles, public works trucks, tractors, sports cars and more.
Approximately 450 attendees came to the event.
“I think (having the event in the) morning helped because then people can just get up and get stuff done in the afternoon,” said Ellis. “It use to be afternoons, and we would fry.”
