A woman riding her bicycle remains hospitalized after being involved in an accident with a car and dragged down Main Street Friday morning, police said.

Carla Hoffman of Taylor was rushed from downtown to a local hospital shortly before 8 a.m., said Police Chief Henry Fluck.

According to investigators, Hoffman was pedaling west on Third Street when a black Chevrolet Cruze traveling east on Third turned north onto Main and collided with the bicycle.

"Although we don't have a camera, it appears both of them had the green light," Fluck said. "The vehicle making a left turn was looking into the sun, so she couldn't see anything and struck the cyclist."

Fluck said Hoffman was dragged about a block before the vehicle could come to a stop. Witnesses rushed to help pull the victim from under the car.

No charges are reported and the driver of the sedan is cooperating with police, the chief said.

"It's very tragic and we are praying for Carla to make it through this and have a recovery," Fluck said.
