The Woman’s Study Club met March 15 at the 5th and Vance Event Center for their second meeting of the 2021-22 year.
The club conducted business and enjoyed a presentation by its guest speaker, the Rev. Travis Summerlin. He gave an informative and reportedly interesting historic talk on Saint Patrick while dressed in traditional fifth century clothing of a missionary. He tried to enlighten the group with the fact that there never were snakes in Ireland, so therefore, he did not drive out the snakes as the story goes.
Noteworthy was that the group voted to buy two sewing machines for the Taylor Public Library to assist with the sewing classes that are offered there during the summer. The library is the charity that the Woman’s Study Club supports.
The group’s next meeting will be on April 19.
