A Williamson County jury found Josue Antonio Gurrola, 39, of Hutto, guilty of sexual assault of a child on Tuesday, June 4.

The Williamson County District Attorney’s Office said the jury sentenced Gurrola to confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division for 99 years after a three-year trial.

“The jury's verdict of 99 years is a testament to the severity of the crime committed and the enduring impact on the victim’s life,” District Attorney Shawn Dick said. “We hope this sentence brings solace to the victim and serves as a stern warning to those who would perpetrate such heinous acts in our community.

The 14-year-old victim suffered multiple instances of sexual assault by Gurrola in early 2021, according to the DA’s office. The incidents occurred both in a Hutto residence and in a vehicle Gurrola borrowed from a family member.

Prosecutors said Gurrola was known to the victim and was in a position of trust for the child.

The DA’s office said the victim made an initial outcry to her mother, who contacted the Hutto Police Department to report the crime. As a result, the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center conducted a forensic interview, during which the victim detailed the assaults.

Gurrola was arrested on unrelated charges in Round Rock October 4, 2021, records show.

The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys, Bailee Beilman and Cari Warner.

“My office will continue in our unwavering pursuit of justice for survivors and their families to ensure that those who commit such reprehensible acts are held accountable,” Dick said.
