Fire impacts local home

A fire last week affected 50% of a house in Taylor, firefighters said.

The Taylor Fire Department was dispatched at 9:42 a.m. Friday, May 31, for a structure fire in the 2100 block of Pinelawn Drive, according to Assistant Fire Chief Robert Copeland.

Copeland said there were no injuries to people or pets in a blaze that was ruled accidental after investigation.

With the help of Hutto Fire Department and Round Rock Fire Department, the assistant fire chief said firefighters extinguished the flames within 30 minutes.

“They did what we call a transitional attack,” Copeland said. “They went from the exterior and wet down the fire from the exterior. Then they made a transitional attack to the interior attack and that’s when the remainder of the fire was extinguished.” The structure was a home with a single family living in it, Copeland said.

According to Copeland, there are some years where Taylor has several house fires while other years have only a handful.

He reminds residents to check smoke alarms to make sure they are operational and to have an escape path memorized in case there is a fire.
