As the temperature reaches triple digits, local children looking to cool off have a couple of options this summer.

The Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center, 1600 Veterans Drive, is open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and is open from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. There’s free pool entry from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, assistant public information officer Kendra Maness said.

While changes are being planned for the aquatic center, Maness said there are no plans for pool closures due to construction. “Any pool closures would be for weather or maintenance,” she said. “Residents can call ahead to double-check if the pool is open by calling 512-352-6880.”

Taylor assistant public information officer, Kendra Maness, said there are no plans for the pool to close for construction this summer.

Taylor also announced that the Heritage Square splash pad, which has been under construction since January, will reopen at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6.

According to a city press release, upgrades include the installation of 360-degree illuminating LED light fixtures and a new slip-resistant splash deck, as well as the replacement of the deck and sidewalk area around the splash pad.

In addition, the communications office said safe, non-toxic and watersoluble chemicals were injected into the soil to stabilize it, which will help eliminate ponding around the splash pad and make it safer for visitors.

The Heritage Square splash pad hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
