HUTTO — After Raúl Peña resigned in April, the next phase of Hutto Independent School District’s superintendent search is underway.
The district is asking faculty, community members, parents and more to provide input on qualities they desire from their next leader.
Interested parties have until June 2 at midnight to fill out a leadership profile survey from Texas Association of School Boards, who’s conducting the search.
Survey participants are asked to identify a group that best describes them, list a couple of Hutto ISD’s most significant strengths, what they consider to be the most concerning issues or challenges and what personal characteristics they want the school board to look for during the hiring process.
The application opened May 22 and will remain open until June 25. Trustees plan to ultimately name a lone finalist for the position during the Aug. 6 board meeting.
Cara Malone, who was previously the assistant superintendent of human resources, is serving as interim superintendent until the hire is made.
Previously, Peña was named the lone finalist in August 2023 after a 13-week process. JG Consulting, the consulting firm that helped run the superintendent search at that time, similarly collected community feedback to build a leadership profile for the position before trustees made the hire.
The district said it encourages the community to keep up with the search at www. hipponation.org/superintendentsearch.
