During their Thursday, May 23 meeting, the Taylor City Council will consider a resolution that puts the approved charter amendment into action.
The new edition of the Council will vote to incorporate the four charter amendments into the city charter, which voters comfortably passed during the May 4 election.
The resolution will also enact the proposition that changes the requirements of polling locations for elections. Now, the wording will read that polling places will be established “consistent with the requirements of state law.”
According to the agenda packet, the Council pay will be $125 for the May 23 meeting and then the pay will continue at $125 per meeting.
In addition, the agenda packet said the individual winning the at-large position for the city of Taylor will be elected as mayor in 2026. Until then, the mayor shall be elected by the City Council.
In other business, city leaders will:
• Introduce an ordinance repealing a previous ordinance regarding council compensation.
• Discussion and possible action on Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center construction options.
• Hold a public hearing and introduce an ordinance regarding requests to change place type zoning at four different lots.
