THRALL — Awards are being dished out to Tigerettes now that the season is over for Thrall High School softball.
The UIL 2A District 27 released its all-district list this week, and Thrall athletes are regularly featured.
Sophomore pitcher Miley Pokorny won the district’s pitcher of the year award. Pokorny was the workhorse for Thrall on the mound, pitching 179 of the 191 total innings throughout the season according to MaxPreps.
The sophomore struck out 218 opposing batters while only walking 59.
She finished the season with a 19-8 win-loss record.
Ashlyn Jarosek, Melaina Grissom, Dezi Lopez and Mikayla Velasquez earned first team all-district honors. Jarosek led the team, among players with at least ten at-bats, in batting average with a 0.430 mark.
Meanwhile, Lopez had a 0.398 batting average and Velasquez had a 0.312 average. Grissom scored 21 runs and had 19 hits.
Kenzie Engelke and Briana Jarosek were named second team all-district.
In addition, Kyla Gee, Stephanie Widner and Adelynn Bishop received honorable mention nods.
On the academic side, Ashlyn Jarosek, Stephanie Widner, Miley Pokorny, Cece Walker, Lily Slough, Kyla Gee and Kenzie Engelke were recognized as academic all-district.
The Tigerettes ended the season in the area round against Thorndale High School and finished with a 26-11 overall record.
