District honor top staff at ceremony

ROUND ROCK — Hutto Independent School District officials think their end of the year celebration was a home run.

The district honored teachers, principals, volunteers and more during the ceremony Saturday, May 11, at Dell Diamond Park in Round Rock.

“Huge shoutout to our outstanding educators who hit it out of the park every day,” Hutto ISD said in a Facebook post.

The Dell Diamond is the stadium for the Round Rock Express, a minor league baseball team. According to the post, the Hutto Education Foundation and the W.D. Kelley Foundation were the event’s sponsors.

Ashley Fulp, a teacher at Hutto Elementary School, won Hutto ISD elementary teacher of the year. The district’s secondary teacher of the year is Anthony Zanin, who teaches at the Hutto 9th Grade Center.

Elisa Hood-Waddle, Hutto Middle School teacher, won the rising star in excellence award.

Meanwhile, parent Victor Barron was named campus excellence partner of the year for his volunteer work.

Another parent, Iselda Robles, won the volunteering for excellence award. Antoine Maynard, Farley Middle School teacher, received the student support hero excellence award.

The winner of the professional support of excellence award was Chris Contreras, district emergency operations and campus safety coordinator.

Lorena Hernandez, administrative assistant to the custodial and maintenance and operations department, earned the nod for auxiliary excellence, while Kurt Mogonye, multimedia and bond communication specialist, earned an award for customer service excellence.

W.D. Kelley Foundation is Hutto ISD’s district excellence partner of the year.
