St. Mary’s students win medals at state

SAN MARCOS — Rams representatives recently participated in private schools’ version of the University Interscholastic League.

St. Mary’s Catholic School’s top Private Schools Interscholastic Association district winners traveled to Texas State University in San Marcos Saturday, April 27, to compete in the PSIA state meet.

The local students faced off against competitors from 55 other Texas private schools.

Several St. Mary’s students earned medals, including a couple students who came home with first place. St. Mary’s Catholic School said it thanks Rob Wilbert for his tireless efforts in helping prepare the school’s PSIA team, parents and volunteers.

The Ram winners are as follows: Gold Medalists:

· Joseph Santiago (Maps, Graphs and

Charts) · Gunner Streit (Oral Interpretation) Bronze Medalists:

· Georgia Rethlake (Art Memory) · Sofia Salazar (Music Memory) · Sofia Salazar (Science) Also earning medals were Gabriel Stark (Creative Writing), Grace Klenzendorf (Ready Writing), Liam Hengst (Spelling) and Peter Baumeister (Spelling).
