Taylor Independent School District announced two of its top teachers last week.

The district named Brentney St. Amand as Taylor ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year and Clara Lopez as Taylor ISD’s Elementary Teacher of the Year.

St. Amand is a math teacher at Taylor High School, while Lopez is a teacher at Main Street Elementary.

Each of the district’s six campuses named a teacher of the year previously in late March, who were nominated by their campus peers. The two educators were selected by the district leadership team as the best in each category.

St. Amand and Lopez were surprised by school administration and district officials in their classroom with a $300 check from Taylor ISD Friday, May 3.

Both will enter the regional and state Teacher of the Year competitions for their respective categories.
