HOUSTON — Four students at Texas State Technical College’s East Williamson County location won medals in two events at the recent 2024 SkillsUSA Texas Postsecondary State Leadership and Skills Conference held April 18-20 in Houston.
“It reflects the dedication and hard work of both the students and the faculty,” said Kelly Coke, provost of TSTC’s East Williamson County location. “The faculty’s commitment to providing a high-quality education and equipping students with industryrelevant skills is commendable.”
SkillsUSA is a professional organization focused on employability, leadership and technical skills that can help college students pursue successful careers and be part of a skilled workforce.
SkillsUSA has more than 100 leadership and skills categories.
TSTC received a silver medal in automated manufacturing technology at the conference. Team members include Alan Bowles, of Volente, Diego Cantu, of Round Rock, and Japheth Tomecek, of Thorndale.
Francisco Delatorre, of Hutto, won a bronze medal in the culinary arts competition.
