Granger ISD teacher accused of inappropriate behavior

GRANGER — One teacher at Granger Independent School District was placed on leave after the district received reports regarding alleged inappropriate behavior in the classroom.

Granger ISD said upon learning of the allegations, the district immediately contacted Child Protective Services and promptly placed the employee on administrative leave.

After an investigation by CPS and the District, the allegations were not initially substantiated and the teacher was then returned to the classroom, a district press release said.

As of Thursday, April 18, CPS has reopened the investigation. The teacher was placed on leave immediately pending the outcome of this additional investigation.

“We take these matters very seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with district policies and procedures,” a statement by Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin said. “This includes cooperating fully with CPS as a part of that agency’s investigation.”

Granger ISD has not released the name of the teacher placed on leave nor information about the nature of the reports or how long the investigation should take.

“The safety and welfare of all students is the overriding priority of the district,” the statement continued. “The district appreciates those who brought the information forward and encourages continued reporting by others when a concern exists regarding the health or safety of our GISD student population. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all, and any misconduct will be addressed swiftly and appropriately.”
