A portion of a crane at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor site in Taylor reportedly collapsed Friday afternoon.
According to spokesperson Michele Glaze, part of a crane, called a crane boom, fell at around 1 p.m. April 12 as workers were preparing to potentially repair the machine.
The semiconductor spokesperson said a crane operator noticed damage to the machine and the crane boom fell in the process of getting ready for repairs. The crane was reportedly cordoned off when the crane boom fell, Glaze said.
A crane boom is a long arm that can transport heavy objects.
No one is believed to be injured and the building did not suffer any damage, Glaze said.
The cranes are operated by a third party. Glaze said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the incident.
