The Taylor High School varsity softball team picked up its second win of 4A-District 22 play Saturday, April 6 as the Lady Ducks routed Manor New Tech High School 11-1 at home.

The Lady Ducks got a balanced offensive attack with plenty of contributions throughout the lineup against the Lady Titans.

Taylor scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, tacked on two more in the third frame, broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning, scored another in the fifth and put the run rule into effect with two more runs in the sixth frame.

Lady Ducks sophomore Holland Long had a two-run double in the sixth inning that gave Taylor its final two runs, while sophomore Alayna Ortiz and freshman Enicia Quintanilla also drove in two runs apiece for Taylor.

Taylor senior Camryn Nunamaker was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI, while fellow senior Kayleigh Page was 2-for-3 with a team-high three runs scored and one run driven in.

Lady Ducks freshman pitcher Anaih Arroyo was in complete control in the circle as she threw six innings, struck out nine opposing batters, allowed just three hits, issued only two walks and gave up one run to New Tech.

Taylor (11-16 overall, 2-5 district record), under Head Coach McKensey Brentham, was in action on the road April 9 at La Grange High School and will remain on the road Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. against Giddings High School.
