MILANO — Ashlyn Jarosek’s three-run home run in the fifth erased a 3-1 Milano lead and helped lift the Thrall Tigerettes (16-6 overall, 5-4 District 27-2A) to a 5-3 win over the Lady Eagles (10-8-1, 6-5) Tuesday night in Milano.
Milano took the early lead on a solo home run by Toni Meyer off Thrall starting pitcher Miley Pokorny in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Eagles upped the lead to 2-0 in the second inning. Malina Gordon led off the Milano half of the second with a walk and scored on Victoria Balderas’ single to right.
The Tigerettes finally got on the board in the fourth. Ashlyn Jarosek and Dezi Lopez hit consecutive singles to lead off the top of the inning and when Brie Jarosek was hit by a pitch, the bases went full of Tigerettes with one out. Pokorny’s sacrifice bunt allowed Ashlyn Jarosek to score and cut the lead to 2-1.
Milano pushed its lead back to two runs with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but that would be the final run for the Lady Eagles. In the top of the fifth inning, Mikayla Velasquez led off reaching after being hit by a pitch.
Melaina Grissom followed with a bunt single to third to set up Ashlyn Jarosek, who took a 3-1 pitch deep over the left-center field fence for a 4-3 Thrall lead. Lopez added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, scoring on a dropped third-strike call.
Milano put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the seventh but was unable to push a run across.
Lopez, Velasquez and Ashlyn Jarosek led the Tigerettes with a pair of hits each.
Pokorny went the distance in the circle, surrendering three runs on five hits, while striking out five.
The Tigerettes were back in action on Friday when they traveled to district-leading Thorndale. The Lady Dogs topped Thrall 5-2 in their first meeting.
