Residents are allowed to take the phrase “spring cleaning” literally this Saturday.

Taylor’s Public Works Department will hold its annual Citywide Spring Clean Up April 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event provides the opportunity for locals to get rid of unwanted, bulky items.

Residents can drop off items at 1300 Welch St. and 1424 N. Main St.

The event is free of charge once a year in the spring as a service to Taylor residents. Participants will need to bring proof of residency, such as a city of Taylor water bill or valid ID.

Cut brush will be accepted, but the brush must be in five-foot sections.

Taylor announced Wednesday, April 3 that it will not be able to take any tires.

There are a few items Taylor cannot accept. The following items are not accepted:

• Construction debris/concrete

• Rocks or dirt

• Paint

• Oils

• Batteries

• Shingles

• No tires

• Household chemicals

• Freon appliances

• Uncut brush

For questions or for more information, contact the Public Works Department at 512-352-5818.
