HUTTO — Texas State Technical College will expand its Computer Networking and Systems Administration program to include the East Williamson County location starting this fall, according to TSTC officials.
Students have had the opportunity to enroll in the program through TSTC Connect, the college’s online platform. Now students will be able to take in-person classes for the program in a hybrid format.
“Central Texas and Williamson County are home to several tech programs,” said Kelly Coke, provost of TSTC’s East Williamson County location. “This program aims to support our Texas technology industry partners and provide well-paying jobs to Texans pursuing this program.”
Program students will learn about ethernet concepts, Linux operating systems, network architecture, wireless local area networks and other facets.
“We are constantly staying on top of the curriculum because technology does change so quickly,” said Jacob Usery, TSTC’s director of alignment for the Computer Networking and Systems Administration program. “We want to stay in front of that. We poll our industry partners to make sure our curriculum is accurate for their needs.”
According to onetonline.org, the yearly median salary for network and computer systems administrators in Texas was more than $85,000. There will be a need for more than 38,500 workers by 2030 in the state, according to the website.
The East Williamson County location will offer the Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Networking and Systems Administration and certificates of completion in IT Support Tier I and IT Support Tier II.
Summer and fall registration for current TSTC students began Monday, March 25, and begins for new students Monday, April 8.
