Local kids learned how to ride their bikes safely in an engaging way at an event this past weekend.
Taylor Parks and Recreation hosted the Youth Safety Bike Rodeo Saturday, March 23 at Naomi Pasemann Elementary School.
About 250 students from kindergarten through middle school and supervisors received a series of educational stations on bike maintenance, bike safety and helmet fitting. Free helmets were given out to the first 80 children.
Afterwards the riders had an obstacle course where the kids learned stop signs, yield signs, hand signals and practiced the rules of the roads that they just learned.
Ian Davis, Taylor Parks and Recreation programs coordinator, said the Bike Rodeo went great because of sponsors and volunteers who contributed to its success.
