Lady Ducks powerlifting competes at state

FRISCO — The Taylor High School girls varsity powerlifting team competed Friday, March 15 at the 4A DI State Championship meet held at Comerica Center in Frisco.

The Lady Ducks, under Head Coach Rylee Davis, had two lifters make the podium in their respective classes with junior Krista Randig in second place and senior Rylie Dlouhy in fourth place.

Randig was the runner-up in the 242-pound class with 1,000 total pounds lifted: 390 on the squat, 245 on the bench press and 365 on the deadlift. This was the first time Randig eclipsed the 1,000-pound mark and she also set a deadlift state meet record in her class.

Dlouhy placed fourth in a highly competitive 114-pound class with 780 total pounds lifted: 290 on the squat, 180 on the bench press and 310 on the deadlift.

Lady Ducks senior Ri’Queleigh Holmes-Grant placed 11th in the 148-pound class with 825 total pounds lifted: 310 on the squat, 210 on the bench press and 305 on the deadlift.

Dlouhy was named a first team academic all-state selection, while fellow senior Sophia Plonka was selected as a second-team academic all-state award winner.

Taylor concluded a memorable 2024 Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association season that had the Lady Ducks finish as the Region 2 champions.
