Taylor High School sophomore Madyson Mitchell and Thrall High School senior Ashlyn Jarosek were selected this week as girls basketball all-region selections in their respective classes following historic seasons for both the Lady Ducks and Tigerettes programs.

MADYSON MITCHELL

A transfer from Killeen Shoemaker High School after a highly successful freshman season, Mitchell made a massive impact as a sophomore for Taylor as she became the first all-region selection in Lady Ducks program history.

Under Taylor Head Coach Lawrence Bailey, Mitchell helped lead the Lady Ducks to a 21-8 overall record, a dominant 12-0 mark in 4A-District 22 play and a berth in the area championship game.

Mitchell did it all for the Lady Ducks in the 2023-24 season as the district’s Most Valuable Player after she averaged 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.2 assists per game.

ASHLYN JAROSEK

A commit to play women’s basketball at East Texas Baptist University, Jarosek capped off a prestigious career as a senior for Thrall during the 2023-24 season as a 2A all-region selection.

Jarosek was the 2A-District 27 Most Valuable Player and led Thrall with 14 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.1 assists per game.

The Tigerettes, under Head Coach Katina Walker, finished with a 22-13 overall record that saw Thrall capture a district championship at 12-0 and a berth in the regional quarterfinals.
