While local schools are off for spring break, Taylor gave students an opportunity to get up close and personal with some heavy machinery.
Large vehicles sat in the Taylor Public Library parking lot Thursday, March 14 in another edition of the Truck Petting Zoo event.
The library festivities were primarily geared towards children, with the young participants allowed to sit in the driver’s seat and honk the horn of school buses, fire trucks and more.
“We have a lot of city departments and community partners who come together so the kids can enjoy seeing the equipment that works in the city,” librarian Karen Ellis said. “Community partners like (Capital Area Rural Transportation System), the workforce commission, the school district, they all participate. It gives families a chance to experience what these trucks do.”
Departments involved included the Police Department, Fire Department, Williamson County Constable’s Precinct 4 Office, Taylor Independent School District, Taylor Public Works, CARTS and Rural Capital Area Workforce Solutions.
The event was free to the public.
