CALDWELL — The Taylor High School girls varsity soccer team was victorious Friday, March 8 in the 4A-District 24 finale at Caldwell High School as the Lady Patos won in penalty kicks.
Trailing Caldwell 1-0 for most of the match, Taylor came up clutch and got its equalizer late as junior Kaleigh Woods scored a goal and was assisted by sophomore Tessa Kopecky to make it 1-1, a score that would hold at the end of regulation.
The Lady Patos and Lady Hornets would then go into penalty kicks, a familiar stage for Taylor this season. For the third time in district play, the Lady Patos won a shootout as Taylor won 4-2 in penalty kicks to get a much-needed victory.
Taylor, under Head Coach Jose Flores, is currently 14- 8 overall and finished district play with a 9-3 record and the No. 2 seed heading into the postseason. The Lady Patos await their bi-district playoff opponent with details still to be announced at a future date.
