GRANGER — Granger Independent School District announced Monday the hiring of Gaston McDorman as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach of the Lions for the 2024-25 school year.
“Coach McDorman is ready to be a head football coach and athletic director,” Granger ISD Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin said to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. “He has a track record of success. From a state championship victory to overcoming the heartbreak of being one game away from the big show, he has been a huge part of winning programs. He understands the blueprint having worked under some fantastic leaders. Education is his family business. He has big shoes to fill, but he brings knowledge from his large school experience to a small school to lead the way. I can’t wait to see what he does.”
McDorman will take over for previous Granger Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Stephen Brosch, who was promoted to Granger High School principal at the end of February.
“I was so excited to offer him the job with Ms. Neatherlin,” Brosch said. “He is an absolute kid magnet that brings the best out of all the athletes he works with. His strong track record of success wherever he has been goes to show just how capable and qualified he is to lead our athletic program. I’m so pumped for our kids and community.”
McDorman will come to Granger from Cuero High School, where he was the offensive coordinator for a prestigious Gobblers football program known for going deep in the playoffs. He also had previous stints at Georgetown East View High School, New Diana High School and Wimberley High School.
