The Taylor High School girls varsity soccer team got the job done Tuesday, March 5 in its final 4A-District 22 home match as the Lady Patos beat Manor New Tech High School by a score of 2-0 on senior night.
Before the match, Taylor honored its five senior players with Leandra Aleman, Paige Patschke, Andrea Calzada, Briana Sarinana and Denise Gonzalez. Behind a dominant defensive effort throughout the match, the Lady Patos were able to get on the scoreboard in the first half on a goal by sophomore Tessa Kopecky to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Fellow Taylor sophomore Peyton Wamble added a goal of her own in the second half to put the Lady Patos up 2-0, a score that would hold the rest of the way.
The Lady Patos got assists on goals from sophomore Avery Paulsen and freshman Kaitlin Crane, while Aleman had a clean slate as goalkeeper in the shutout victory over the Lady Titans.
Taylor (13-8 overall, 8-3 district record), under Head Coach Jose Flores, was scheduled March 8 for the district finale at Caldwell High School.
