The Taylor High School varsity softball team hosted a tournament beginning Friday, March 1 and the Lady Ducks picked up three wins.
TAYLOR LADY DUCKS 3, GRANGER LADY LIONS 0
The Lady Ducks were able to get a hard-fought 3-0 win over Granger High School in their first game of the tournament. Taylor pitcher Anaih Arroyo had five strikeouts in 3.1 innings in the circle and also drove in a run at the plate, while Holland Long also had an RBI.
For Granger, pitcher Payton Filla had a solid outing with six strikeouts in 3.1 innings with all three runs allowed being unearned. Filla, Clarissa Miller and Abigail Crouch had hits for the Lady Lions in the loss.
TAYLOR LADY DUCKS 11, BARTLETT LASSIES 2
Taylor made quick work of Bartlett High School as the Lady Ducks got a dominant 11-2 victory over the Lassies. Kayleigh Page and Grace Yanez each had three RBI for the Lady Ducks, while Enicia Quintanilla drove in two runs of her own. Camryn Nunamaker went 3-for-3 at the plate and had one RBI, while Arroyo and Long also drove in one run apiece. Arroyo pitched two scoreless innings and had one strikeout.

Behind more solid pitching from Arroyo, the Lady Ducks shut out Holland High School by a score of 5-0. Page, Quintanilla, Long and Ariana Concha all had one RBI.
Taylor, under Head Coach McKensey Brentham, will wrap up non-district play this week. The Lady Ducks were scheduled March 5 for a road game at Florence High School and will return home Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. to host Jarrell High School.
